The Electronics and Communication Engineering opens up great career prospects for the students in manufacturing industries and service organizations such as broadcasting, consulting, data communication, entertainment, research and development; and system support.
Electronics and Communication engineering in K S Polytechnic was started in the year 1992, with an intake of 40 students with well-furnished Laboratories and classrooms. The intake was increased to 60 for the next batch. The first batch of students were graduated in the year 1994 with flying colours. Our Alumni have pursued higher studies and also working in prestigious Companies such as ABB ltd, ISRO, H.A. L, DELL, WIPRO, SAP Pvt.Ltd, SAN Disk Pvt.Ltd to name a few.
Seminars, guest lectures from academic and industrial experts are organised regularly. Frequent Industry Visits are conducted to bridge the academic curriculum gap with respect to Electronics and communication Engineering technology.
The field of electronics and communication engineering focuses on electrical circuits, gadgets, and communication tools such integrated circuits and transmitters and receivers (IC). It also covers fundamental electronics, microprocessors, satellite communication, microwave engineering, antennae, and wave progression. Examples of these include analogue and digital transmission and reception of data, voice, and video (Example: AM, FM, DTH), as well as antennas and wave progression. It aims to increase students' understanding and proficiency with fundamental ideas and theories so that they will be better prepared for their professional work in the areas of analysis, system implementation, operation, production, and maintenance of various applications in the field of electronics and communications engineering.

At our K.S. Polytechnic, we offer the best labs and tools available for practising hands-on experience in electronic circuit design, building, and testing. We have a team of highly qualified and experienced staff to groom the students and to impart the core knowledge of electronics and communication engineering through the curriculum prescribed by the Department of Collegiate and Technical education, Karnataka. Our staff are dedicated and strive to provide whatever the academic support required for the students to make them achieve the best of their abilities and to become highly skilled, Industry ready, ethical professional who can contribute to the economic development of the country.
Diploma certificate holder in Electronics and Communication engineering can find employment in the various Government sectors such as ISRO, DRDO, LRDE, NAL, BEL, BHEL, HAL, BSNL to name a few and in prestigious MNCs such as ABB ltd, DELL, WIPRO, SAP Pvt.Ltd, SAN Disk Pvt.Ltd, AMD, IBM, ACCENTURE, HONEYWEL, CANNON to name a few.

Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems components or processes to meet specified needs.

Apply modern engineering tools and appropriate technique to conduct standard tests and measurements.
PO-5 : Engineering practices for society, sustainability and environment :
Apply appropriate technology in context of society, sustainability, environment and ethical practices.
PO-6 : Project Management :
Use engineering management principles individually, as a team member or a leader to manage projects and effectively communicate about well-defined engineering activities.
PO-7 : Life-long learning :
Ability to analyze individual needs and engage in updating in the context of technological changes.
PEO1 :
Demonstrate, Update and adapt domain knowledge in the area of electronics and communication engineering and the allied fields to propose solutions for the core industry in the ever-changing global enterprise with ethical practices.
PEO2 : Assume leadership roles and succeed in their chosen career path, in industry or public service through engineering ability, life skills and multidisciplinary skill set acquired.
PEO3 : Pursue higher education institutes of national level.
PSO1 :
Design and simulate basic electronic circuits and make use of the measuring instruments in the design of analog and digital circuits.
PSO2 :
Apply principles of mathematics, signals and communication theory to analyse different types of signals and operations on signals.
Research and Development Centre of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department of KSSEM was started in the year of 2014-15 and is encouraging PhD research scholars & students to carryout research and development in the specialized areas like Image processing, Communication Neural networks etc. The Centre is affiliated to VTU. Presently, the Centre has five research guides with 20 research scholars pursuing PhD under these guides. The Centre is well equipped with software and hardware tools required to carry out research and development.
Every year the department encourages faculty & students to apply for project funding to funding agencies like VGST, KSCST, DST etc. Following are the details of the sponsored projects.

Our department has well equipped and modernized laboratories with well experienced Instructors to assist students to carry out their experiments. The Department of Placement & Training of KSSEM with the assistance of EC department faculty coordinators facilitates logistic support to companies that visit the College for placements by assisting them in conduction of Presentation, testing, Group Discussions and Interviews. The department of Placement & Training provided job opportunities to students through On-Campus, Off-Campus, Centralized Campus, State level Placement Programme and Job-fairs etc. Placement Office also co-ordinates and helps the students to get project work , arranging in-plant training, industrial visits, projects, guest lecturers and other industry institute activity.
