Civil engineering is the oldest engineering discipline after military engineering. Civil engineering is the application of physical and scientific principles and its history is intricately linked to advances in understanding of physics and mathematics throughout history.
Civil Engineering in K S Polytechnic was started in the year 2004, with intake of 45 students with well-furnished Laboratories and classrooms. The intake was increased to 60 for next batch. The first batch of students were passed out in the year 2007 with flying colours and Many of them have completed the course with distinctions. Our Alumni are working in prestigious construction companies like ACC, Mantri developers and Shobha developers, Prestige and the recently passed out students are studying in topmost Engineering colleges.
Seminars, guest lectures from academic and industrial experts are organised regularly. Frequent Industry Visits, Site Visits are conducted to bridge the academic curriculum gap with respect to civil engineering subjects.
Civil Engineering Course is the oldest branch of engineering education and expanded hugely in the construction's verticals, it helps you gain expertise in the area of designing the building, supervising or constructing or maintaining buildings/infrastructures, and other relevant work.
However, Diploma in Civil Engineering makes you ready a bold and passionate civil engineer.
The Civil Engineering Department was established in 2004 has been playing a key role in transforming the vision of the Institute into reality.
Students get admission into Polytechnic Diploma Civil Engineering course are given good exposures to acquire adequate know ledge of theoretical and practical about Civil Engineering aspects like quality control, materials screening, construction management, professional practice and comprehensive surveying, building drawing, irrigation and bridge drawing, structural engineering etc.
The Department possesses highly equipped laboratories, latest Survey Instruments, very good Computer facility including latest software. Our aim will always be to ensure that present and future students will enjoy all facilities that one would get at any other Institute of National repute.
Diploma certificate holder in civil engineering can find employment in the various design and construction industries including highways, Railways, Bridges, Industrial Structures, research organizations, water supply corporations, ports and harbours, and many other construction projects.
Lateral entry to 3rd Semester BE Course for Karnataka Students through DCET.Post Diploma Courses in Construction Management, Auto CAD and Structural Design / CAD.
After completing your diploma, there is two general career paths for civil engineers. Either you can work in an office, deal with design projects, handle clients or work directly on construction sites or different projects. civil engineers may find work in construction consultation companies, designing companies, Construction and Developer firms, Contractors, building material supply firms or any other industry that is dependent on construction.
You can search for different job portals and employment newspapers for the latest job vacancies. If you are fresher, don?t miss any opportunity and try to grab your first job as it gives you practical exposure in the field and makes you a valuable asset in the future.

Internships are foundational in preparing students for the workforce and providing opportunities after graduation. Most employers seek career-ready college graduates who have been equipped with prior experiences and skills in a given field. An internship is important because it can present you with new skills and opportunities that student would not receive otherwise. Interns not only gain technical knowledge within the industry of their choice, but they also learn how to interact with professionals in a workplace setting, and develop essential soft skills like time management, organization, adaptability, problem-solving and teamwork. An internship is the best way to gain work experience as a student. Internships give you the valuable practical experience needed along with theoretical knowledge. Employers often note that there is a disconnect between the requirements of the industry and the academics. This gap can be bridged by an internship and pitch you as an ideal candidate.
Final year project is one of the most important aspects of Polytechnic. Final year project will be the first exposure to the full rigour of Engineering practice. It is essential that students learn from this exposure and practise all of the engineering methodologies involved. It is particularly important that students learn not just to apply what they know, but to apply it with judgement.
Mini projects for diploma students give an edge over the race of recruitment to work hard to ensure a good career. By taking up mini projects, students can gain practical knowledge. The technical skills can only be improved by taking up mini projects. Students become more productive.
